Description

Hardware & Software Deployment Specialist

Please note that applicants must already hold the right to live and work in the UK. CyberOwl is unable to offer sponsorship for this position.

We're CyberOwl, a dynamic maritime cyber security company that operates globally with colleagues based in the UK, Greece, Singapore, Malaysia, Poland and the Philippines. Recently, we were acquired by DNV giving us access to a much wider maritime ecosystem and opportunities for further growth.

CyberOwl helps maritime and CNI asset operators gain visibility, cybersecurity, and compliance of systems on their distributed, remote assets. We work with ship owners and managers where our technologies provide near-real-time visibility of the onboard IT and OT assets and their communication patterns, raises early warning of cyber-attacks, suspicious behaviours and monitors for non-compliance. We complement this with a managed service (SOC) and specific cybersecurity advisory services to further support the asset operator.

Our team is 60+ Owls strong and always growing. We’re expecting another significant growth phase imminently. We’re recognised as market innovators - we have a bias for action, and our team prides itself on their ability to plan, execute, and iterate at a rapid pace. We value the ability to challenge each other, hold each other to account, develop each other personally and professionally, and celebrate each other’s successes. Our culture is at the heart of everything that we do and we live by our values; BE OWLS.

We celebrate diversity with 13 nationalities, 17 languages, many more dialects, and lots of Owls. We are spread across 2 continents and 6 countries.

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Hardware and Software Deployment Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing hardware rollouts, managing software installations, and supporting infrastructure maintenance, all while ensuring outstanding customer service and strict adherence to established processes. The position requires a structured, methodical approach, along with a passion for delivering reliable, high-quality solutions.

You will be working closely with customers across the UK and Europe, with a particular focus on Greece. For this reason, proficiency in written and spoken Greek would be highly advantageous, though not essential.

This role will suit someone with a background in building and configuring personal computers, whether as a hobby or in a professional capacity.

Shift Pattern & Hybrid Working / Location:

This is a Hybrid position working from home with a requirement for attendance at our server build centre on an as and when needed basis. We envisage the server build centre will be located within 30 mins of the successful candidates home location. Attendance at the build centre is dependent on hardware dispatch needs and may vary one week to the next, but has some degree of predictability. Though this role is primarily Monday to Friday during usual business hours, you may be required to vary your hours which may include weekends on call, so as to facilitate customer requirements and urgent deployments. In such circumstances CyberOwl will compensate you accordingly.

Key Responsibilities

1. Hardware Deployments

  • Build and dispatch hardware units (Incus) following established processes.
  • Provision and dispatch network sensors efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and collaborate with operations to meet forecasted demand.

2. Software Deployments

  • Use Skeleton Incus to bring vessels online.
  • Deploy and configure CyberOwl Agents on the vessels.

3. Monitor & Maintain Deployed Infrastructure

  • Collaborate with customers' IT support teams to restore unresponsive hardware.
  • Maintain accurate records of issues, identifying and addressing systemic weaknesses in collaboration with service delivery and development teams.

Ideal Candidate Profile

1. Skills and Traits

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ideally including Greek.
  • Experience of either building or maintaining hardware such as computers or servers, whether professionally or as a hobby.
  • A patient, detail-oriented "completer-finisher" who ensures tasks are completed to the highest standard.
  • Ability to follow structured, prescribed processes with discipline and focus.
  • A motivated self-starter who can manage time effectively and handle shifting priorities.
  • Methodical troubleshooting abilities, with a logical and systematic approach to problem-solving.
  • A customer-focused mindset, taking pride in delivering the right solutions from the customer’s perspective.

2. Background

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing IT technical support environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience with computer hardware and software operating system builds

3. Technical Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows.
  • Basic familiarity with Linux, with a willingness to learn and grow technical expertise.
  • A natural curiosity and passion for technology.
