Job Overview

The Deputy Cancer Manager will be responsible for the effective and efficient support to the Health Board’s Divisions and
Directorates in the delivery of the Suspected Cancer Pathway 62-day target. They will also take the lead role on the service improvement, transformational change and implementation of published National Optimal Pathways for cancer patients throughout the Health Board.
The post holder will take senior leadership role providing day to day management of the Cancer Services department.
Working with Health Board clinicians and managers the post holder will provide support to service directorates in complying with operational cancer targets..
The post holder will deputise for the Cancer Service Directorate Manager when required to include representing the department
internally and representing the Health Board externally, e.g., NHS Executive, Welsh Government and National Cancer Team.
Main duties of the job
- Providing senior leadership and operational management to the Cancer Services department
- Leading the programme of cancer pathway improvement and transformational change
- Provide expert knowledge to service directorates across the Health Board to support delivery of cancer targets

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to Masters Level or demonstrable knowledge gained through equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of change benefit tracking
- Able to travel to other NHS sites within the South East Wales region
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience managing a team of staff
- Previous experience of working within a Health setting and managing change across multiple stakeholders and disciplines
- Experience of working with highly complex clinical and non-clinical information
- Excellent knowledge of cancer pathways and national optimal pathway publications
- An understanding of change management issues and processes

- Previous experience of change benefit tracking
