Team Surgery at Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals Group Trust is a large and diverse Care Group, striving to provide outstanding care across several acute sites, (Lincoln County and Pilgrim Hospital, Boston), a nationally accredited surgical hub at Grantham, and minor procedures, Outpatients and diagnostics across those hospitals and community satellites. The Care Group hosts the following services and specialties, Anaesthesia, General Surgery, Head and Neck, Intensive Care, Operating Theatres, Ophthalmology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Urology and Vascular. We also work closely with our regional counterparts such as Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) to provide specialised spinal surgery input for our patients and University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) to support some of our emergency Ophthalmic services. The Surgery Care Group has an established budget of £162M and employs a large, diverse staff base in a variety of clinical and non- clinical roles.
In this period of elective recovery, whilst there remain significant challenges across our planned care waiting lists and increasing acuity of emergency admissions, the Care Group has strong ambitions to better embrace collaborative working and drive service improvements to support early detection and to treat our patients in a more timely manner. The acute side of the Trust in which this care group sits, is one of the largest in the country, serving a population of 756,000 and is characterised by coastal and rural communities; how we tackle health inequalities and promote accessibility is high on our agenda. We are looking for an inspirational leader to help move our Group into the next phase of integration. Recent NHS England focus towards left shift, the transition from caring from the patient in the acute setting to the community, where clinically appropriate, and the advent of Group based working within the Lincolnshire system, offers a unique opportunity to truly make a difference.
We are looking for an exceptional Deputy Director of Operations who prides themselves on value-based leadership; the Care Group encourage applications from individuals who place the importance of establishing a nurturing and supportive culture at the heart of everything that they do. The newly formed Care Group Triumvirate (Director of Operations, Chief of Service and Director of Nursing) are keen to focus upon a high performance JUST culture which provides the best care for our local communities. In return, you can expect a supportive senior leadership team, who will support you to thrive both personally and professionally. You will be responsible for the formulation of strategic planning whilst juggling competing operational priorities, for the benefit of our patients. This post will support the Director of Operations to ensure that all services are focussed on ensuring effective and efficient use of resources, to deliver a high-quality service, that achieves and exceeds the required performance targets.
The Deputy Director of Operations works alongside the Care Group leadership team to provide and ensure:
- The effective operational management of the Care Group, ensuring co-ordination and planning of services across other Divisions, to enable the provision of high-quality services.
- An effective performance management framework is in place to support Specialties to deliver agreed activity and financial plans and performance, quality, and workforce standards.
- The delivery of effective and appropriate governance and risk management arrangements across the Care Group.
- The Care Groups income and control budgets are managed in accordance with SFIs and Standing orders, the principles of Service Line Reporting and Establishment Control.
- The Care Group has a robust strategy and agreed priorities that align with the Trust strategic priorities.
