Your Role: You will deliver exclusive entertainment news to our loyal audience who rely on us for all the daily gossip. You will be working in a fast-paced and exciting environment at The Sun writing, editing and managing a team while helping to run the desk and forward plan the showbiz calendar. You’ll bring in exclusives, make video content, write for the Sun’s new Sun Club and deliver opinion pieces on the biggest stories of the day. You’ll have experience in a similar role and bring exciting new ideas to the table.


Day to day you will:

  • You will bring in great showbiz exclusives for print and online - our stories set the showbiz agenda and we are the leading source of news for all showbiz, across platforms
  • Help manage a large team of both staff and freelancers
  • Recognise and act upon any potential legal issues and act in accordance with the PCC Code of Conduct.
  • Sub stories to make sure they’re of the highest quality.
  • Work directly with the Showbiz and TV Editor to navigate story challenges, ensuring line managers are consistently updated on progress.
  • Suggest new angles and feature ideas to news/features/ video desks.
  • Maintain a wide knowledge of showbiz and current affairs and trends through reading various titles as well as utilising other media platforms on a daily basis.
  • Work with the video team to help create video content as well as create your own video content around the day’s biggest showbiz stories, from MAFS UK to Love Island.
  • Encourage collaboration and support reporters, actively engaging with other desks.


What we’re looking for from you:

We’re looking for someone with over five years experience working as a senior showbiz editor on a newspaper, website or magazine: someone who is brimming with new ideas, has a bulging contacts book and thrives working in an exciting, fast paced newsroom environment.

  • Unflappable under pressure and delivers work at a consistently high standard.
  • Keen attention to detail and meticulous fact-checking.
  • Proactive and displays a willingness to take on any task.
  • Positive can-do attitude and good team player.
  • Self-starter, organised and a good problem-solver, able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of The Sun brand, both print and digital.
  • Flexibility on rota pattern - this role is hybrid with some office days required at News UK’s London Bridge office.
