Deputy team manager - Supportive Action for Families (SAFE East)

Supportive Action for Families in Ealing (SAFE) is an area-based, multi-disciplinary service at the forefront of our early intervention offer. SAFE provides a range of interventions for children 0-18 and their families, split in to 2 areas EAST and WEST. SAFE brings together professionals from social work, domestic violence, education, parenting and mental health backgrounds; offering a range of preventative and early help interventions to ensure better long-term outcomes for families. The service forms an important part of Ealing’s Brighter Futures model with the aim to support and transform practice across children’s services.

An opportunity has arisen in the SAFE service to recruit a knowledgeable and enthusiastic deputy team manager who will work closely with the team manager, and other deputy managers in the service. The role would be suited to someone who has a passion for creative working with different disciplines in the early intervention field, who is able to offer excellent leadership and can deliver the best outcomes for children at an early stage to reduce the need for statutory interventions.

The post-holder will manage a team of up to eight workers of different disciplines which could include family support workers, social workers, senior social workers, EHAP workers and Family safety workers.

You will need to ensure the effective running of the SAFE early intervention service for children, young people and their families supporting a model of direct work within timely, planned interventions. You will be required to work closely and develop good working relationships with our front door team as well as our statutory services.

The role requires you to offer reflective and creative casework supervision, set clear direction for performance and enhance the use of professional expertise within the team. You will require a flexible problem-solving approach to ensure the service is clearly focused on achieving measurable outcomes for families.

The role supports a combination of working from home and office-based working.

If you feel you have leadership skills to support the SAFE service in the delivery of early help models with a key focus on the monitoring and evaluation of the services offered and be part of an experienced, multi-agency team, then this could be for you.

What you will need

Experience in leading, supervising and/or mentoring, good time management, effective planning and organisation, and well-developed report writing skills. Experience of parenting group delivery would be beneficial but not mandatory. You will also need a good understanding of thresholds to support the SAFE early intervention referral system as well as having an enthusiastic and creative work ethic.

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.
