Design Engineer - Stress Analyst to work with
Murphy Applied Engineering. Performing stress analysis of piping systems using industry-standard software (e.g., CAESAR II).

A day in the life of a Murphy Design Engineer - Stress Analyst
- Ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, including IGEM/TD/12.
- Collaborating with design engineers to optimize piping layouts and support systems.
- Undertaking site visits, conducting field inspections and provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases.
- Preparing detailed stress analysis reports and recommend solutions for identified issues.
- Evaluating material selection, wall thickness, and load conditions to ensure system integrity.
- Staying updated on industry trends, standards, and best practices in piping stress analysis.
Still interested, does this sound like you?
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (or similar) or working towards chartership.
- Proficiency in stress analysis software and tools.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, material properties, and mechanics of materials.
- Familiarity with IGEM/TD/12 and other relevant codes (e.g., ASME B31.3, B31.1).
- Experience in Oil & Gas sector and familiarisation with the IGEM Suite of standards for Gas Pipeline and Installations as well as other National and International Pipeline codes.
- Experience of interfacing with Clients such as National Gas Transmission and Cadent and knowledge of their Specifications and Standards including the G/17 and G/35 design assurance process
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Good technical report writing skills suitable for submission to stakeholders.
