Are you a thoughtful and visionary engineering professional with a passion for the future of rail infrastructure? NES Fircroft has been retained to support a world-leading infrastructure services provider who is seeking a Rail Systems Design Integration Lead to join their collaborative joint venture in London/Birmingham, supporting the delivery of the landmark HS2 project.

In this role, you will act as a vital bridge between their technical teams and stakeholders, ensuring that complex systems come together in perfect harmony. You will foster a culture of technical excellence and integrated assurance, ensuring that every interface is handled with care, precision, and a focus on long-term project success.

As the new Design Integration Lead, some of your key responsibilities will be:

Lead Technical Harmony: Facilitate the seamless integration of all design interfaces across contractor scopes and client requirements, ensuring technical consistency and a holistic approach to integrated assurance.
Champion System Integrity: Nurture the development and implementation of management plans for RAM, System Safety, and Interoperability, upholding the highest safety standards for the UK's rail network.

Cultivate Collaborative Partnerships: Serve as a central, insightful point of contact for stakeholders, including clients and supply chain partners, to identify and resolve complex design interfaces through open dialogue.

Support Project Stewardship: Oversee the design supply chain to provide progressive technical assurance, ensuring milestones are tracked and managed thoughtfully within the project's budgetary and schedule constraints.

Promote Insightful Design Reviews: Guide multi-disciplinary workshops and reviews, fostering an environment where technical queries are resolved with care and design interfaces are harmonized for successful construction.

To excel in this role, we are looking for candidates with:

Academic & Professional Foundation: Holds a degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or a related field), with Chartered status (CEng/IMechE/ICE) being warmly welcomed.
In-depth Rail Expertise: Proven experience in managing major, multi-disciplinary rail projects, with a deep understanding of high-speed systems and complex operating requirements.
Mastery of Design Integration: Demonstrated skill in managing technical interfaces and inter-contractor coordination within a collaborative, design-and-build alliance environment.

Regulatory & Safety Awareness: Solid knowledge of system safety, RAM, and legal frameworks such as CDM and CSM, ensuring our designs prioritize the well-being of the public and the environment.

Inclusive & Focused Leadership: A motivated team player with exceptional communication skills who listens deeply, engages stakeholders, and drives delivery through a focus on buildability and efficiency.
