We are looking to recruit a Designer on a fixed term basis for 12 months to work for our in-house Creative Studio. The Creative Studio champion Scotland’s destination brand, ensuring that all creative, communication, content and campaign outputs are aligned to the values, essence, and attributes of the brand. The team are the guardians of the organisation’s brand identity and various sub-brands, event and product propositions as well as supporting Brand Scotland. The team are integral to the development and delivery of all marketing and the growth of VisitScotland’s channels and partnerships.

This role can be based out of VisitScotland office location across Scotland. VisitScotland operates a hybrid working culture, partially office and partially home based.

Responsibilities:


  1. Responsible for the delivery of high-quality, omni-channel, user-centred design and branding requirements. You will be responsible for managing a wide portfolio of design projects across print and digital and leading on projects from scratch from brief to delivery.
  2. Responsible for ensuring designs align with our brand and strategic goals. Designers will contribute to the evolution, advocacy of and implementation of the VisitScotland Brand Guidelines and Toolkit.
  3. Responsible for quality and consistency across campaign and business collateral. You will lead on projects and respond to briefs with the appropriate design methodologies and concepts. Designers are responsible for collaborating with VisitScotland teams to deliver the best solutions for channels and audiences.
  4. Working closely with design operations, designers will give regular project updates, work to timing plans, and meet deadlines. You will work with our project management system and support product development in an agile environment.
  5. Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver on design asks that meet organisational priorities, designers will lead ideation workshops with partners and colleagues to help interrogate a brief.
  6. Designers will contribute to multi-disciplinary sprint teams and collaborate to provide solutions for our digital products. They will be confident in interactive design and UX design practices. Including wireframe, user journey mapping, user testing, recommendation, prototyping and delivery.
  7. Play a role in major flagship projects as well as priority projects. You will provide design support across a range of briefs from brand design, design system, marketing campaigns, and a wide range of channel specific assets.
  8. Responsible for keeping up to date with current best practice including design skills such as motion design and design tooling and confidence in application of Accessibility for digital design standards under WCAG 2.2 AA compliance.
  9. Designers are responsible for maintaining and meeting their performance goals. This includes agreeing training goals with their line manager.


Qualifications:


In order to be considered for the Designer role, we ask that you can demonstrate in CV and Covering Letter the following:


  • Proven experience of working in a studio environment with comprehensive understanding of design for print and digital communications (including brand identity and development, corporate communications, integrated campaigns, information design, advertising and motion
  • design).Qualified to HND or Degree level in Design, backed up by a sound portfolio.
  • Proven ability to interpret and respond creatively to a brief in collaboration with stakeholders as well as to estimate the resource required to deliver.
  • In depth knowledge and experience of Adobe Creative Suite, Figma and working with Design Systems.
  • Confidence across all stages of the design process from interpreting a brief, research and user-journey mapping, running an ideation session, concept development, presentation, feedback and delivery.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on complex briefs that stretch across many channels
  • Sound knowledge of Scotland and the Scottish Tourism product.
