We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual with a background in nucleic acid characterisation and assay development to join our Sample Technology team. This position supports the development of new nanopore sequencing products, focusing on our expanding range of cutting-edge sample preparation products (designed to handle a large variety of DNA and RNA sample types).
The Details
The Sample Technology team is responsible for the development, specification and performance of ONT’s sample preparation products, associated biological components, and end-to-end “sample-to-answer” workflows. Reporting to the Sequencing Kit Development Manager, you will support both the development of new products (from concept to release), and the continuous improvement/optimisation of items within our existing portfolio.
Extensive Hands-on Experience In The Following Areas Is Ideal
- Handling and characterisation of DNA, RNA and proteins.
- Utilisation and optimisation of Molecular Biology-based techniques including (q)PCR, PAGE, capillary electrophoresis.
- Design, development and optimisation of biochemical assays.
Responsibilities Include
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver products from proof-of-concept into customer hands.
- Generation of data to showcase the performance of nucleic acid sample (library) preparation methods.
- Development and optimisation of such library preparation methods to boost performance.
- Concordant design of new biochemical components used within library preparation.
- Assay development to assess new biochemical components.
- Operation of our Nanopore sequencing devices, with associated analyses.
- Regular communication (oral and written) with a variety of stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in chemical or biological sciences, or considerable laboratory experience in the areas described. Industrial experience is preferable. The candidate should have a strong attention to detail, a high level of organisation, great communication skills and should relish the opportunity for team working.
