AspinallVerdi is a specialist practice of Chartered Surveyors and Town Planners providing integrated property development, regeneration, and town planning services to clients in both the public and private sectors. Since our establishment in 2009, our Leeds office has grown to five locations, and our Newcastle office, opened in June 2021, has successfully managed various projects in the North East, working collaboratively with Leeds on project flow.

About the role


We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual to join the Newcastle office. We would consider candidates who are currently studying, who have recently graduated and are looking to commence their RICS APC journey, or those with some surveying industry experience who may be looking for a change of role to focus on the development sector.


You should have familiarity with market research, financial appraisals, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective report writing is essential.

Your core responsibilities will include (tailored training can be provided):

  • Providing development consultancy advice in the context of viability appraisals property market assessments, master-planning and funding projects
  • Undertaking options assessments to identify optimal outcomes and contributing to business cases for public sector funding
  • Undertaking soft market testing including consultations with agents and developers
  • Attending site inspection, project meetings and networking events
  • Providing valuation advice and reports – working with Registered Valuers
  • Undertake project management and client liaison roles on a day to day
  • Preparing effective persuasive reports
  • Attending/presenting at client Meetings
  • Assisting with networking and marketing activities, including building your own network
  • Supporting the Directors with business generation, including writing fee proposals and tender submissions and any other tasks reasonably required


Knowledge, Skills and Experience required


We anticipate that you will have the following skills (dependent on experience):


  • Studying toward, or have achieved, an RICS accredited undergraduate degree course (e.g. Planning & Development / Real Estate) or an RICS accredited Masters degree. Non-cognate degrees in relevant subjects e.g Geography, Economics etc may also be considered.
  • be a proficient user of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • demonstrate familiarity with Argus Developer (or similar)
  • have the ability to organise and prioritise – excellent time management skills
  • have a professional manner with good communication skills and able to speak to a broad range of other professionals, good team skills and willing to engage with colleagues and clients
  • strong report writing with the ability to articulate arguments and findings
  • have project management skills for multi-disciplinary team working
  • have an enquiring mind with attention to detail, be able to think methodically and be highly numerate
  • the ability to use your own initiative
  • full driving licence and willingness to travel to locations across the UK
