The successful candidates will play a vital role, working alongside likeminded colleagues in support of local, regional and national investigations in areas such as fraud, money laundering and other crimes causing serious harm to consumers.
Our Team
North Yorkshire Council is a joint host authority, alongside City of York Council, for the National Trading Standards eCrime Team. This specialist team is responsible for investigating, prosecuting and disrupting high-value online frauds. The Digital Forensics Unit also operates a commercial service, NYtech, which provides digital forensics, onsite warrant assistance and a range of other technical services to customers across the country.

The Role
As a Digital Forensic Analyst, you will carry out digital forensic examinations and analysis and submit detailed reports, where appropriate. You will also provide advice to external officers in the seizure, handling and submission of digital evidence. The post holders will attend and assist in the execution of entry warrants where complex systems are likely to be present, acquiring evidence from stand-alone computers, servers and network devices. You will also give evidence, as necessary, in criminal or civil proceedings.

About You
This is a career-graded role, offering development opportunities and progression based on experience and performance.
For new entrants at Grade F, whilst a degree is not required, it would be advantageous. The successful candidate will also have a good knowledge of computer hardware and software.
To be considered for the higher grades (Grades I and JK), a relevant degree or appropriate digital forensics training is required, alongside previous experience of working in a digital forensics environment. At the higher grades, a sound knowledge of ISO accreditation would also be a distinct advantage.
