The Opportunity
We are looking for a Digital Safety Support Officer to lead on the development of the digital safety, wellbeing and citizenship network and strategy, provide online safeguarding advice (including safe and ethical use of Generative AI tools), and develop and deliver digital safety training for University staff and students.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week) on a fixed term contract for 12 months. However, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. Colleagues are required to work a minimum of two days per week on campus. The post holder’s office is in central Edinburgh, and this is the primary work location. The poster holder will be required to facilitate in-person events at various locations across the University of Edinburgh campus.
The salary for this post is£34,610 - £39,906 per annum.

- A good understanding of digital safety including issues such as bullying and harassment, equality and diversity, online scams and ethical implications of AI tools.
- Ability and confidence to network amongst students and staff.
- Skills in searching for, discovering, evaluating and collating information.
- Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills and standards of customer care.
- A talent for planning and coordinating learning events and supporting materials.

About The Team
The Learning, Teaching & Web Services Directorate (LTW) brings together technology enhanced learning, e-learning, the University website, web services, graphics, multimedia, digital skills training and classroom technology teams to support learning, teaching and outreach for an enhanced student experience.
We provide a wide range of technology and support services for innovative learning and teaching, including classroom tools, virtual learning environment (VLE), blended learning, bespoke development, online video, open educational resources (OER), taught online Masters programmes, massive open online courses (MOOCs), feedback and assessment. We manage the continuing expansion and diversification of the University website, student portal, and provide digital technology services in 400 teaching rooms and study spaces across the campus.
Every year we host student internships, projects and events which promote innovation and align with the University strategic aims to promote new ways of working in learning, teaching and research.
