About the Team
The Office of the Chief Technology Officer is focused on delivering and supporting a forward-looking technology strategy. The goal is to develop practical, secure, and user-friendly systems that enable better services and outcomes across global operations.
We’re building a strong architecture and assurance function to guide technical decision-making and drive consistency across digital, data, and technology services.
The Role
The Lead Technical Architect will take a central role in shaping how our systems are designed, integrated, and delivered. This is a senior-level position working closely with leadership to define and apply technology standards, support service design, and ensure alignment with wider goals.
You will:
- Lead on system design, especially around Microsoft 365 (M365), Azure, Intune, and mobile device management
- Guide integration planning and ensure designs are secure and scalable
- Oversee the quality and consistency of services and systems
- Explore opportunities to align systems and services across government
- Mentor technical teams and support fellow architects
- Help shape and implement the overall technology roadmap
You’ll be part of a supportive and forward-thinking architecture community, working across multiple teams and projects.
- Design systems with a focus on user needs, security, and business goals
- Lead on technical reviews and ensure secure-by-design principles are followed
- Produce clear documentation and present recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Contribute to technical strategies across cloud, cyber, infrastructure, and user experience
- Coach peers and promote architectural best practices
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends
About You
This role requires strong technical knowledge and architectural experience, particularly in:
- Cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure and AWS
- Microsoft 365, including Intune, Active Directory, and endpoint management
- Networking, telephony, and enterprise infrastructure
- Agile delivery environments
