BAM FM are looking for a Business Excellence Director to join the senior leadership team.
Your mission
The Business Excellence Director leads key planning cycles, supports major transformation programmes, and champions a culture of alignment, collaboration, and forward thinking. By working closely with operational, commercial, financial, and support teams, the Business Excellence Director ensures overall consistency across contracts and departments, enabling the business to respond to emerging opportunities and risks with agility and purpose.
Planning & Business Alignment
Develop and embed a coherent FM plan that aligns with BAM UK&I’s corporate objectives.
Ensure all business activities, programmes, and functions are underpinned by a growth mindset intent.
Lead annual strategic planning cycles and ensure alignment between short-term business plans and long-term vision.
Translate external market intelligence, client drivers, and policy changes into actionable strategic priorities.
Organisational Integration & Governance
Drive strategic coherence across all departments, ensuring initiatives and investments are joined up, well-sequenced, and impactful.
Act as the bridge between the FM business and wider BAM UK&I strategy teams—representing FM priorities while supporting group-wide transformation.
Provide senior governance oversight into key change programmes and transformation initiatives.
Establish clear frameworks for prioritisation, decision-making, and reporting across strategic programmes.
Strategic Risk, Opportunity & Performance
Identify and assess strategic risks and opportunities facing the FM business—both within its operating model and the external market.
Lead strategic reviews and scenario planning to futureproof the organisation’s delivery models and commercial resilience.
Monitor performance against strategic KPIs, identifying areas for course correction and targeted intervention.
Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
Work closely with the Managing Director and SLT to influence decision-making and embed strategic clarity across leadership forums.
Build strong relationships across BAM UK&I strategy, commercial, finance, and delivery teams to maintain alignment and visibility.
Support client engagement and business development activities by articulating BAM FM’s strategic positioning and value proposition.
Leadership of Strategic Programmes
Provide strategic directions to major business improvement and transformation programmes.
Ensure all programmes have clear business cases, robust delivery plans, and are aligned to BAM FM's strategic objectives.
Promote cross-functional collaboration and shared ownership of strategic delivery.
Who are we looking for?
Significant senior leadership experience in a strategy or transformation role within a complex, operational business (preferably in FM, construction, or related sectors).
Proven ability to lead strategic planning processes and ensure organisational alignment.
Strong understanding of market trends, customer needs, and the commercial drivers shaping the built environment.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at Board and Group level.
Experience in leading large-scale transformation or change programmes.
Comfortable interpreting data and performance insight to drive decisions and measure success.
