You will be working on high profile acquisitions, disposals, carve outs and performance improvement assessments for prominent corporate businesses and private equity houses in the Telecoms, Media and Technology sectors across a range of geographies and have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects within a highly commercial environment.

You will utilise your experience of M&A operational due diligence and operational performance improvement and develop an impressive range of operational consulting skills that will multiply your career options. Deloitte’s Value Creation Services team supports corporates and private equity backed businesses with a focus on improving the value of the underlying business. Our work takes a pragmatic approach to assess and deliver operational improvements to cash and EBITDA, and on operational considerations throughout the M&A transaction lifecycle, including pre-deal operational due diligence, performance improvement evaluations, synergy and carve-out assessments, divestments, pre-deal full potential assessments and post-deal 100-day plans. The team comprises highly experienced practitioners with a background in operations management, transformation implementation and the operational elements of acquisitions and divestments and is a core part of Deloitte's market-leading Strategy, Risk & Transactions Advisory group. Collectively we are a group of over 1000 professionals who provide M&A and value creation related expertise to corporate organisations, private equity houses and financial institutions. Your role will be to provide operational value creation and M&A expertise to businesses in the Telecoms, Media and Technology sectors. You will deliver services ranging across carve-out assessments, performance improvement evaluations, operational due diligence, 100-day planning and synergy development and review assignments.

The Director will have responsibility for:

• Providing Telecoms, Media and Technology businesses with both buy- and sell-side transaction operational due diligence.
• Assisting these businesses in understanding the true operational capability of potential acquisition targets as well as existing owned businesses.
• Working with these businesses in the assessment and review of potential merger synergies, the impact and complexities of carve-outs on vendor and target organisations and the stand-alone performance improvement potential of buyouts and corporate divestments.
• Outside the context of M&A transactions, assisting clients in assessing the value creation potential within their business, working hands-on with management teams to get buy-in across the business and implement agreed initiatives within an accelerated timeframe to maximise value, and developing action plans to deliver against performance improvement initiatives.
• Working with colleagues within M&A and the broader Deloitte network, to provide our clients with end-to-end deal services with a coherent overview of the business operations, performance gaps and the potential for rapid improvement.
• Building and maintaining distinctive relationships with our clients and being a key client contact on engagements.
• Assisting the M&A Operations Partner group developing and maintaining client relationships and leading on business development opportunities.
• Overseeing the day-to-day work of the Assistant Directors regarding the development and completion of the engagement scope and completion of client deliverables across multiple engagements.
• Leading and developing service offerings and evolving propositions to drive practice growth.
• Leading training and developing team members in role.
• Managing diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
• Participating in grade-appropriate training to further your personal development.

Connect to your skills and professional experience

Essential:

• Experience across the full spectrum of VCS services (operational due diligence, operational performance improvement, carve-outs, synergies and performance improvement or equivalent).
• Experience in the Telecoms, Media and Technology or equivalent sectors, including direct experience from working in a related role in industry.
• Experience from working in a related professional services role.
• Strong problem-solving, business diagnostic and analytical skills including excellent financial analysis and Excel capabilities.
• A strong understanding of business operations.
• Core experience of analysing and understanding financial statements particularly relating to operations and costs.
• Experience of operating with senior level stakeholders in the corporate and/or private equity industry, building and managing client relationships.
• Experience in leading business development, from opportunity identification to conversion into sales.
• Experience in leading multiple teams and engagements simultaneously.
• Experience in coaching, mentoring or counselling colleagues.
• Ability to fluently communicate and present in both oral and written English.
• Strong commercial acumen and project management capability with a track record of successful delivery.
• A strong academic track record including excellent degree and A-level (or equivalent) results.
• Flexibility for international travel.
