Director of SOC 1 & SOC 2 Compliance

Location: Fully Remote (UK or Europe)

Salary: £90,000–£100,000 base + bonus + benefits

I'm currently hiring on behalf of a newly independent, high-growth technology business that has recently undergone a major divestiture. They’re now entering a pivotal phase, building their entire Tech environment from the ground up, free from legacy systems or outdated processes and truly state of the art and cloud-native.

This is a standout opportunity for a senior audit and controls professional to step into a Director-level role with global remit and full ownership of SOC 1 and SOC 2 compliance. You’ll lead a distributed team, shape audit readiness strategies, and work closely with executive leadership to ensure the business meets the highest standards of operational integrity and assurance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a global audit and compliance team based across EMEA and APAC.
• Oversee internal monitoring, testing, escalation, and remediation processes for SOC 1 and SOC 2 controls.
• Take ownership of the end-to-end audit process, including coordination with external auditors, preparation of documentation, and managing audit walkthroughs and follow-ups.
• Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders across IT, Legal, Risk, and Operations.
• Develop and maintain internal policies and control frameworks aligned with audit standards and evolving business needs.
• Identify control gaps and risk areas, and implement improvements that support a scalable, enterprise-grade compliance environment.

Key Requirements

• 5+ years' experience in audit and compliance with specific experience leading SOC 1 and SOC 2 audits.
• Strong background in managing external audits and leading SOC readiness programs.
• Confident team leader, with a track record of building and mentoring high-performing compliance or audit teams.
• Excellent communicator who can operate cross-functionally and influence at all levels.
• Certifications such as CPA, CISA, or ISO Lead Auditor are a strong plus.
• Highly organised, proactive, and motivated by the opportunity to build from the ground up.
