About The Job
The Director of Brand, Marketing, and Communications at the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) leads and oversees the planning, development, and implementation of IB’s brand vision to enhance IB’s global brand presence. The Director ensures that IB’s brand message is relevant and cohesive across all channels and audiences to advance IBO's mission of education for a better world and for human and planetary flourishing. This role is pivotal in driving brand, marketing, and communications strategies externally and internally, fostering awareness, growth, engagement, and action across IB’s diverse global communities.
The Director will lead a global team of marketing and communications professionals responsible for all aspects of brand, marketing and communications within strategic and product marketing, digital marketing, creative services, web strategy, media, public relations, and crisis management.
With a presence in over 150 countries and more than 6,000 IB World Schools worldwide and growing, the Director will play a key strategic role in expanding IBO's reach and impact, promoting its thought leadership, programs, services, and community initiatives to contribute to narrowing the learning gaps worldwide.
The Director will ensure that all marketing and communication activities are executed efficiently and effectively. This includes managing a circa $2-3M budget, tracking lead conversion and other performance metrics, and making data-informed decisions to optimise marketing efforts and resource allocation.
Responsibilities
- Develop global and local marketing and communications strategies which drive brand awareness with a focus on the growth of: 1) students engaging with the IB programmes and education philosophy; 2) education partners (schools, governments and systems) adopting the IB programmes and services; 3) professional development participation and engagement of IB, and 4) non-IB educators and global conference participation.
- Enhance Brand Reputation by developing and implementing strategies to strengthen the IBO's reputation for international education and pedagogical leadership. This includes maintaining consistent thought leadership and driving brand messaging, visual identity, and voice across all channels.
- Drive Marketing Efforts through strategies that promote of IB programs, services, and initiatives, collaborating with business units across the organisation, leveraging market research to identify opportunities and optimise campaigns for growth, retention, and engagement.
- Innovate Product Marketing by overseeing the marketing and localisation of IB's educational programmes and services to IB’s diverse stakeholder groups globally. Collaborate with the Education office to align value proposition with product features and benefits
- Expand Digital Presence by developing strategies that drive digital marketing efforts, including social media, SEO, content marketing, and online presence to enhance the IBO's digital footprint and engagement with target audiences.
- Driving effective internal and external communication including public relations, media relations, stakeholder communications, and crisis management all vital to developing compelling narratives that support the IBO's mission and vision. Develop of a global communications strategy with an emphasis on content strategy to drive global thought leadership, influencer communications and top tier media coverage. Develop and amplify the public voices of IB’s leadership (including the Director General), positioning them as influential and trusted thought leaders reflecting IB”s values in the global education space.
About You
- Degree (or equivalent level) qualification in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field is essential.
- Proven experience of leading the Marketing and Communications Strategy at Senior Leadership level for a global / matrix organisation with a 7 digit budget, with an understanding of diverse cultural contexts and international markets.
- Prior experience operating in a strategic leadership position requiring frequent stakeholder interaction at Executive and Board Level to advance organisational objectives.
- Knowledge of the global education market is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of SEO, SEM, social media marketing, marketing automation workflows, CRM integration for lead generation tools, lead scoring and segmentation.

- Annual Salary in the region of USD 173,886 – 217,358 (negotiable dependent on experience).
