Role Description:
Director of FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) for the Markets Division is a key, senior position within the Markets Finance team. The position drives, leads and provides strategic advice, analytics and business/commercial performance insights to achieve short-and long-term objectives for the Markets division.
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader and strategic thinker, with a proven track record of influencing business decisions and delivering insights that drive growth and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide data-driven insight and analysis on Markets wide business performance across a range of KPIs, with robust challenge and proactively identifying opportunities for growth and efficiency across the division, on a direct and fully allocated basis.
- Manage monthly performance reporting with full accountability
- Coordinate all aspects of the financial planning process, including investment planning, across Markets with a clearly articulated narrative, all with a multi-year lens. Challenge existing assumptions, simplify complex concepts and foster innovative thinking to create what best looks like for the Markets Division.
- Build clear, impactful presentations for Markets Leadership Team and Exco – translating complex financial data into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Partner with Group FP&A and Investor Relations to develop the external narrative on the divisional performance, analysing forecasts vs. consensus and articulating drivers of difference.
- Manage and mentor junior FP&A staff, encouraging their professional growth and development, whilst promoting a high-performance culture
- Work with teams across the wider finance team to optimise data reporting, data analysis, data visualisation, and performance insights, and drive adoption of best practice approaches.
- Drive forward ambitious agenda for change in FP&A team and more broadly Markets finance team.
Qualifications & Experience:
- History of providing strategic thought leadership, partnering and influencing senior finance & business stakeholders
- Significant work experience in a variety of finance roles, including senior FP&A experience, ideally in a global matrixed organisation.
- Strong understanding of external markets and key Financial Services trends, with industry experience a significant plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong financial modelling skills
- Expertise in financial software applications is desirable, along with Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, ERP systems and AI Tools.
- Continuous improvement attitude, with a passion for optimising processes.
- Able to influence others and deliver outcomes and change through other people.
- Degree qualified and accounting certification (ACCA, CIMA etc.) and / or MBA.
