IT Director – London (Hybrid)

Up to £120,000 basic

We’re supporting a large, infrastructure-led organisation on the appointment of an IT Director, reporting into the CTIO.

This is a senior leadership role with accountability for IT strategy, major technology programmes, and vendor-led delivery in a complex, partner-driven environment.

The role

As IT Director, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the IT landscape effectively supports a fast-scaling, wholesale business. You’ll own the IT roadmap, oversee multiple large programmes, and act as the client-side authority over strategic technology partners.

This is not a hands-on engineering role. It’s about governance, commercial oversight, and senior decision-making.

Key responsibilities

Own and shape the IT strategy and roadmap, aligned to business objectives
Provide end-to-end accountability for large IT programmes (planning through to delivery and handover)
Manage and govern strategic delivery partners, ensuring outcomes meet agreed quality, cost, and timelines

Work closely with internal leadership and external stakeholders, including board-level and shareholder representatives

Oversee IT budgets (capex & opex) and contribute to business cases and investment decisions

Ensure IT architecture, security, and operational standards are fit for purpose

Lead a small senior team and provide clear direction, prioritisation, and decision-making

What we’re looking for

Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role within telecoms, infrastructure, or wholesale environments (B2B).
Strong background in large-scale IT programme leadership
Deep experience managing vendors, partners, and complex commercial arrangements
Comfortable operating at C-suite and board level, with confidence and gravitas
Commercially astute, able to balance speed, cost, and risk
Clear communicator who can challenge constructively and drive alignment
