About The Role
We’re hiring a
Director of Lending Strategy. This is a high-responsibility role focused on ensuring Cleo’s go to market credit strategy delivers on our business objectives across the US, UK and other geographies.
You’ll own the credit teams responsible for developing, iterating and scaling our credit strategy in lending products in each geography.
This role sits within Credit and partners directly with Debt Capital Markets, Product and Growth. You’ll be responsible for localising credit policy, working with Product and Growth to size opportunities, develop new lending products and manage the lending performance of existing products. You will be responsible for building out the lending strategy teams in each geography and working closely with the centralised credit teams across modelling, analytics, performance and policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Ownership: Lead Cleo’s go-to-market credit strategy, ensuring it meets business objectives across the US, UK, and other geographies.
- Team Leadership: Build, manage, and scale lending strategy teams in multiple geographies, while partnering closely with centralised credit functions (modelling, analytics, performance, and policy).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with Debt Capital Markets, Product, and Growth to align lending initiatives with wider business goals.
- Credit Policy Localisation: Adapt and tailor credit policies to fit local market conditions and regulatory requirements.
- Product Development: Partner with Product and Growth to size market opportunities, develop new lending products, and optimise existing offerings.
- Performance Management: Monitor and manage the lending performance of products, iterating strategy based on results and insights.
- Scaling Impact: Ensure credit strategies and lending products can be developed, iterated, and scaled effectively across geographies.
What we're looking for
- Proven Leadership: Extensive experience leading credit or lending strategy teams in high-growth financial services, fintech, or consumer lending environments
- Product & Market Expertise: Track record of developing and scaling lending products, with exposure to multiple geographies (ideally US and UK).
- Credit Risk Knowledge: Strong understanding of credit policy, risk management, and portfolio performance, with the ability to balance growth and risk.
- Partnership Mindset: Demonstrated success collaborating with functions such as Capital Markets, Product, Analytics, and Growth to deliver commercial outcomes.
- Analytical & Strategic Skills: Ability to synthesise data, market insights, and financial modelling into actionable strategy.
- Execution at Scale: Experience in scaling lending operations and strategies across diverse regulatory and cultural landscapes.
- Industry Network (a plus): Existing relationships in capital markets, lending infrastructure, or fintech ecosystems.
