Tasks
The Head of Technical Services is responsible for leading and co-ordinating all the Design, Service and Planning disciplines scope within the project. The role ensures there is collaboration between the Service leads and the construction delivery teams with the aim of delivering an assured project.The role encompasses the following functions - Permanent & Temporary Design, Planning, Environment, Quality Control & Assurance, Technical Control, Consent & Community Engagement.Main Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the Design & QA/QC functions.
- Support the Head of Technical Services with the responsibility for the Technical Control, Planning, Environment & Consent & Community Engagement functions.
- Liaison with Construction delivery team, QA/QC team, Commercial team, Planning team and Cost control team to provide relevant functional guidance and control.
- Ensuring that services teams are conversant with the delivery programme and constraints/opportunities/risks therein.
- Ensuring the Project is delivered in line with Strabag Divisional policies & procedures and contractual requirements.
- Be familiar with, and demonstrate commitment to the requirements of the Health & Safety and Environmental Policies.
- Management and monitoring of functional performance for the Scope of works, including any agreed KPIs.
- Management of budgets and costs pertaining to the Services teams for the Project.
- Ensuring that the works are carried out in accordance with the Health & Safety Management Plan, which is to be audited in accordance with the Quality Plan.
- Ensuring that environmental and sustainability deliverables are achieved.
- Producing and maintaining a ‘Works Information Deliverable schedule’ and ensuring this is complied with.
- Delivering Business Improvement opportunities and reporting performance against cost and benefit.
- Providing leadership through membership of the Project Leadership Team, setting exemplar standards and visual leadership.
- Help to build, and then mentor, develop and support, the team to drive the project.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
- Educated to degree or higher and hold relevant professional qualification.
- Experience of large complex projects in the rail, highways, water or energy sectors.
- Experience of managing the challenges associated with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
