Duty Manager – 3-Star Hotel (Ullapool, Scotland)
Position Type: Full-time
Shift Pattern: Split shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Reports to: General Manager / Deputy Manager
Role Overview
As Duty Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the hotel during your shifts, ensuring exceptional guest service and smooth coordination across departments. This role requires flexibility and commitment to a split-shift schedule, typical in small hospitality teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Guest Services
- Act as the main point of contact for guests during your shift.
- Handle complaints and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure a welcoming and helpful atmosphere throughout the hotel.
- Operational Oversight
- Supervise front office, housekeeping, and food & beverage operations.
- Ensure smooth handovers between split shifts.
- Monitor service standards and address any shortfalls.
- Staff Coordination
- Support and guide team members during shifts.
- Assist with training and onboarding of new staff.
- Maintain morale and teamwork across departments.
- Health, Safety & Security
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents as per hotel procedures.
- Secure hotel premises and assets during your shift.
- Administrative Duties
- Complete shift reports and communicate key updates to management.
- Assist with stock control and basic financial tasks (e.g., cashing up).
- Attend briefings and contribute to operational planning.
Requirements
- Previous experience in hotel operations or hospitality management.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work split shifts and adapt to changing schedules.
- Calm under pressure with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of hotel systems (PMS, POS) is an advantage.
