Vacancy Details
Duration: Fixed term of 12 months with the potential to extend or go permanent. (Please note, secondments are subject to line manager approval, please discuss this with them before applying).
Location: This role is based in Waterloo Station. This role is a full-time opportunity, flexible working patterns will be considered.
Band & Salary: (Band 4b) £35,582 - £42,218
Brief Description
As an Economic Analyst, you’ll support a wide range of transport projects by conducting analysis and helping communicate insights to both internal and external stakeholders. Working closely with experienced economic planners, you'll gain exposure to different aspects of transport economics and the rail network.
About The Role (External)
About the team..
You'll be joining a collaborative and experienced team of economic planners who specialise in various aspects of transport economics and different regions of the rail network. Our work is diverse, fast-paced, and central to shaping the future of rail.
What does the average day look like?
Day to day, you’ll be working alongside various economic planners in our team, who are experts in particular elements of transport economics or geographic areas of the rail network. You’ll get involved with a variety of projects, allowing you to build up your knowledge and skills, and get exposure to the different types of work we do. You’ll soon be responsible for conducting your own pieces of analysis and helping communicate the results to our internal and external stakeholders.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone with a numerate degree or equivalent experience, who brings a solid foundation in economic analysis or investment appraisal. You’ll have strong research skills, communicate clearly in both writing and speech, and be comfortable managing your workload—whether working independently or as part of a team.
Essential Criteria
- Numerate degree level education or relevant experience.
- Practical experience of economic analysis or investment appraisal.
- Good research skills.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication.
- Can plan and deliver priorities individually and as part of a team.
We Would Also Like, But Not Essential.
- Knowledge of the transport/railway sector.
- Experience of working in a regulatory environment.
- Understanding of financial/business plan information.
- Good understanding of the economic issues faced by Network Rail.
