Scale 5: £ 33,291pa rising in annual increments to £34,779 incl. LW

Permanent/Full time/Hybrid

Lambeth Local Authority is looking to recruit an Education, Health & Care Plan Assistant to join a friendly and supportive team to deliver an exceptional service in the execution of the Local Authority’s SEN statutory responsibilities as set out in the Children and Families Act 2014. Lambeth’s cooperative structure aims to strengthen the involvement of local people in the services they receive in partnership with all local providers. Therefore, the Borough has a key responsibility to ensure that there is good quality support for all its learners, parents /carers.

About The Role

The Education, Health & Care Plan Assistant is responsible for supporting the effective and timely coordination of annual reviews for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) across the 0–25 age range. This includes maintaining accurate administrative records, liaising with schools and other stakeholders to ensure annual reviews are scheduled and completed within statutory timescales, and ensuring transitional reviews are prioritised to meet legal deadlines. The postholder will also act as a first point of contact for EHCP-related queries, support data monitoring, and contribute to the smooth running of the SEN Service by upholding statutory duties and promoting a person-centred, outcome-focused approach.

About You

You will:

Support the annual review cycle of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHC).

Guide settings and parents to the right provision at SEN Support level. Directing them to the Local Offer to find more information on the services available.

Liaise with all educational settings to advise on best practice around reviews and changing needs.

Act the first point of contact for EHCP related queries and to offer advice and support relating to applications for assessment of SEN.

Provide excellent customer service and be empathic to the needs of a vulnerable client group.

Implement the Council’s Equal Opportunities policies and to work actively to overcome discrimination on the grounds of race, sex, disability, sexuality or status in the Council’s service. To take responsibility appropriate to the post for tackling racism and promoting good race, ethnic and community relations.

Carry out the duties of the post in accordance with the Data Protection Act, the Computer Misuse Act, the Health and Safety at Work Act, and other relevant legislation, as well as the Council Policies and Procedures, Standing Orders and Financial Regulations.

You will work with key partners including parent carers, children and young people, colleagues in Lambeth Council, SENCOs of local schools including academies and free schools.

At this level, you will need:

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • A strong commitment to customer care and supporting vulnerable children and families
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of EHCP processes and statutory duties
