Mental Health Support Teams in Schools in Herefordshire and Worcestershire is expanding further.
Known as Wellbeing & Emotional Support Teams (WEST), the service is across Herefordshire and Worcestershire schools to provide early help for children and young people aged 5 - 18 experiencing mental health problems.
We offer evidence-based low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interventions for children and young people, Whole School Approach and Consultations in schools.
We are supportive, share knowledge, learn from our experiences, and have attractive training packages, making the work place a good place to be.
The service operates Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, using a multi professional working in our team approach.
We are expanding our portfolio of schools in Worcestershire and Herefordshire and require four trainee posts for the WEST Service which sit across both the Worcestershire and Herefordshire counties.
Successful candidates will undertake the EMHP Training course at a university allocated nearer the time. Starting dates will be September/October 2025 for one cohort and January 2026 for the second cohort. Initial contract is fixedterm 2 years when you will be paid at Band 4. If you qualify and become registered with the accredited governing body you will then move to a permanent contract and paid at Band 5.
Successful applicants will be required to sign an addendum to contract as part of the conditional offer of employment.
Main duties of the job
To be educationally supervised, assess and deliver outcome focused, evidence-based interventions in educational settings for children and young people (CYP)
Developing skills in supporting children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, parents/carers, and educators in the self-management of presenting difficulties
Where appropriate parents/carers will work collaboratively and coproduce with practitioners their own agreed plan of care
Undertake accurate assessments of risk to self and to others
Engage and learn from aligned education settings and mental health links
Engage in robust managerial and clinical supervision agree on the appropriate children and young cases
Practice, evidence, reflect on and demonstrate an ability to manage ones own caseload
Attend multi-professional meetings
Keep coherent records of all training and clinical activity in line with both health and education service protocols and use these records and outcome data to inform decision making, provide data collection
Evidence of working within a collaborative approach, with teachers, parents, children and young people, and other community agencies
Development of clinical and/or training materials
