EHS Advisor (HV Substation) — Scotland

Employer: Designer Group

Location: On‑site in Scotland (HV Substation project)

Contract: Permanent, full‑time

About the role

We’re growing and have a new opportunity for an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor to partner with our project team on an HV substation in Scotland. You’ll champion a proactive safety culture, keep our people and partners safe, and help us raise the bar across the project lifecycle.

What you’ll do

  • Be the go‑to EHS lead on site: provide practical advice, coach supervisors and operatives, and set the tone for “safe by default.”
  • Own compliance with CDM 2015, local HSE regs, and company procedures; maintain standards to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Run inspections & audits (plant, equipment, work areas, PTW/LOTO, temporary works interfaces) and track close‑outs.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, drive root‑cause fixes, and share learnings across DG sites.
  • Lead RAMS quality: review/advise on method statements, risk assessments and safe systems of work (incl. office and site tasks).
  • Deliver engaging training and toolbox talks, including behavioural‑based safety modules.
  • Analyse EHS data and trends, prepare clear monthly reports and recommendations.
  • Coordinate stakeholders—clients, subcontractors, suppliers—fostering a collaborative, right‑first‑time safety culture.
  • Chair the EHS committee and champion continuous improvement and innovation.

What you’ll bring

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) and 3+ years’ site‑based EHS experience.
  • CSCS/ECS card, Fire Marshal/Warden, full clean driving licence.
  • Confident with EHS software and Microsoft 365.
  • Great communicator who can influence on busy construction sites.

Great to have (nice‑to‑haves)

  • TechIOSH membership; Fire Risk Assessor competency.
  • M&E/electrical or substation/HV environment experience.
  • First Aid at Work, Mental Health First Aider, Face‑Fit Tester.

Why Designer Group

  • Employer of choice ethos: safety, respect and development are non‑negotiables.
  • Impactful work on complex, high‑profile engineering projects.
  • Growth & mobility: opportunities across the UK & Ireland with clear development pathways.
  • Supportive leadership: visible QEHS backing and the tools to do your best work.

How to apply (quick & easy)

Tap Apply on LinkedIn or share your CV for a confidential chat. If your experience spans construction EHS (ideally with HV/M&E exposure), we’d love to hear from you.
