Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer

Job title: EC&I Design Engineer

Job Type: Permanent

Start date: As soon as possible subject to clearance

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 per annum + Benefits (Pension, Holidays etc)

Location: Huddersfield

5 Days per week onsite

Hours of work: 37 hours per week

Role & Responsibilities:

•You will take ownership and responsibility for the execution of all assigned work

•You will deliver fit for purpose, practical Engineering design in line with specification,

budget and programme

•You will support and promote all company and client site directives – HSEQ, best

practice, innovations, continual improvement

• You will development and retain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders

• You will maintain up to date knowledge and competence to support the role and to

align to client’s and industries’ requirements and directives

•You will produce new and update existing detailed EC&I design documentation; typically - loop diagrams, control panel schematics, field connection diagrams, I/O

schedules, control circuits, failsafe circuits, LV power distribution &

protection, single line diagrams, control panel GAs and layouts, instrument

air distribution and control, instrument air system layouts, instrumentation

hook-ups, functional testing procedures.

•You will comply with both national and site standards

•You will carry out site surveys

•You will compile document work packs

•You will comply with company and site procedures; typically – Engineering design, project control, documentation control, procurement, verification

•You will support other activities; typically – estimating, commissioning, hand-over, procurement

•You will contribute to team(s) to support continual improvement

•You will work independently, using your own initiative

Qualifications/Experience Required:

• Degree/ ONC / HNC or equivalent in Electrical / Control / Instrumentation /

Engineering discipline - Essential

• Minimum of 5 years experience working as an EC&I Design Engineer - Essential

• Proficient in using AutoCad - Essential

• 18th Edition Wiring Regs - Desirable

• IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent HSE qualification - Desirable

• CompEx – ExF (foundation), EXF+ (foundation plus) or Ex01-04 (Gas & Vapours), Ex05-06 (Dust), or Ex12 (Application Design Engineers) - Desirable

• Functional Safety, IEC61508 – TUV or equivalent - Desirable

• Understanding of CDM 2015 regulations - Desirable

• Experience of working in a COMAH Tier 1 Process Manufacturing Environment - Desirable
