Job Description
As a Construction Manager you will work closely with the project management team, overseeing the day-to-day management of electrical site operations, ensuring productivity, quality, and safety while driving programme delivery to meet strict project milestones. You will manage the electrical scope from design through to commissioning, including critical systems such as LV/MV distribution, busbar, containment, fire alarms, security systems, and ICT infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate and review electrical design packages with consultants, planners and specialist subcontractors
- Develop daily and weekly work plans, ensuring targets are achieved and programme milestones are maintained.
- Lead site teams and subcontractors across electrical, fire alarms, security, ICT, and other specialist systems.
- Ensure readiness of access, permits, drawings, and materials in line with project sequencing.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of all electrical and critical systems in compliance with BS7671, BS5839, BS5266 and client specifications.
- Support the Project Manager with programme planning, reporting, and risk management.
- Manage QA/QC processes in collaboration with the quality team.
- Contribute to commercial reporting, including progress claims, variations, and change control.
- Work closely with safety, planning, QS, BIM, and supervisory teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
Skills And Requirements
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Electrical Trade background is required.
- Experience in Life Science, Data Centre and Pharmaceutical projects is advantageous, demonstrating your understanding of industry best practices and technologies.
- 5+ years’ experience in large scale electrical construction.
- Experience of the UK fit out market is required.
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and external partners.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office systems, BIM360, Revit, Navisworks, Dialux, Amtech
- Experience with SAP would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated appetite for continuous learning and personal development.
- Experience with Electrical systems such asContainment, Distribution, Earthing, Lighting, Emergency lighting, Lighting control, Small power, Critical power, Busbar, Fire Alarm, Vesda, Working knowledge of BS7671, Working knowledge of building regulations.
- Mechanical systems experience not essential but must demonstrate a knowledge of being able to co-ordinate
- Must demonstrate an understanding of electrical system commissioning such as Electrical testing in line with BS7671, Fire detection commission in line with BS5839, Emergency lighting testing in line with BS5266.
- ECS Managers Skills Card required
- ECS Electricians Skills Card required
- SMSTS required
- Valid 1st Aid would be advantageous.
- Fire Marshall would be advantageous.
