The role
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join a forward-thinking team as an Electrical Design Engineer, where you’ll provide expert technical support to critical electrical systems. Day-to-day, you’ll provide expert technical support for the operation and maintenance of existing electrical systems and equipment at Devonport Royal Dockyard, ensuring reliable performance and compliance through flexible, professional engagement as part of the Technical Authority.
- Provide technical support to maintain the design intent of existing electrical systems and equipment
- Support new designs, modifications, and life extension projects as part of the department’s consultancy function
- Apply Design and Safety Processes across all project lifecycle stages, ensuring appropriate technical governance and quality deliverables
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential Experience Of The Electrical Design Engineer
- Strong grasp of electrical engineering principles and design fundamentals
- Proficient in applying the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) to real-world systems
- Skilled in interpreting and producing electrical engineering drawings
- Hands-on experience with electrical building services systems across varied applications
- Solid background in design engineering, from concept through to implementation
Qualifications For The Electrical Design Engineer
- A minimum of HNC or equivalent in an Electrical/Electronic Engineering discipline.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
