HV Engineer – SAP (66kV) – Wind Energy

Contract – supporting operations and maintenance on a flagship UK wind farm

Job Overview

An experienced HV Engineer / Senior Authorised Person (SAP 66kV) is required to support O&M activities for a leading renewable energy project. The role involves operating and maintaining HV and LV equipment, leading safe working practices, and mentoring the operational team.

Key Responsibilities

Act as SAP up to 66kV
Operate HV and LV equipment and substations
Lead and enforce electrical and mechanical safety rules
Manage HV interfaces with control rooms and transmission operators
Author switching programmes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and commissioning documentation
Coordinate daily site activities and support energisation works
Ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work, RAMS, and regulatory requirements
Mentor and support operational team members

Skills and Experience

Proven experience as an HV SAP or HV Operations Engineer
Strong background in onshore and offshore wind operations
Experience operating HV switchgear up to 66kV
Experience with Siemens or Siemens Gamesa HV infrastructure is highly desirable
Excellent safety awareness and strong communication skills

Qualifications

Electrical or Mechanical qualification (or equivalent)
Qualified SAP (66kV) – essential
GWO Offshore Medical and Survival – essential
