Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
Kinectrics UK has a pipeline of power transmission and distribution materials development and innovation projects, requiring finite element analysis (FEA) Multiphysics modelling and simulation of high voltage electrical cable systems. This new position,
Electrical Engineer (FEA Modelling) will contribute to project activity through electrical, thermal and mechanical modelling to enable us to achieve high quality outcomes and support technology commercialisation.
You will join a multidisciplinary team of chemists, physicists, materials scientists, and field test engineers, providing insight to development work gained from decades of combined experience. Our team will work with you to develop your skills and range of expertise.
- FEA modelling of electrical assets, specifically high voltage cable systems, will comprise the majority of your work. Modelling activities of various other power generation, transmission and distribution systems can be expected.
- Perform finite element simulations on mechanical components and systems to evaluate performance under various loading conditions, including stress, strain, vibration, thermal, and fatigue analysis.
- Develop accurate FEA models, applying appropriate boundary conditions and material properties.
- Interpret simulation results, identify potential issues, and suggest design modifications. Collaborate with design teams to optimise product performance, manufacturability, and cost.
- Generate detailed reports with analysis results, visualisations, and recommendations for design and operational improvements.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and design.
- Ensure all system-related documentation aligns with project-specific needs and regulatory standards.
