Location: Swindon (M4 Corridor), South West Region

Role Overview

As the Engineering Manager (SAP - Senior Authorised Person), you will lead the project delivery team responsible for managing the design delivery process for various maintenance projects. This role encompasses the complete lifecycle of engineering management in line with time, quality, budget, and health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Plan, coordinate, and oversee the maintenance of Canal and River Trust (CRT) MEICA assets, including moving structures like lift and swing bridges, locks, and SCADA systems.
  • Design Delivery: Manage the production of engineering deliverables and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Client & Team Collaboration: Facilitate meetings with clients and internal teams to ensure clarity in design and implementation processes.
  • Documentation Review: Evaluate project-generated documentation, including Construction Phase Plans (CPPs), Work Package Plans (WPPs), Technical Bulletins (TBs), specifications, and drawings.
  • Approval Processes: Provide structural approval for construction methodologies and changes in standards.
  • Team Leadership: Oversee and manage up to 20 field engineers, ensuring efficient resource deployment.
  • Project Oversight: Collaborate with regional engineers on significant projects, including upgrades and refurbishments of CRT assets.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • SAP Qualification: Must be a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) with extensive experience in industrial, mechanical, and electrical asset maintenance.
  • Electrical Engineering Qualification: Minimum Level 3 electrical certification, ideally with mechanical knowledge.
  • Asset Knowledge: Familiarity with Canal & River Trust (CRT) assets is advantageous.
  • On-Call Availability: Willingness to be on call for fault responses.
  • Mechanical & Hydraulic Systems: Proven experience in project or maintenance work related to these systems, particularly with moving structures, pumps, SCADA, and PLCs.
  • Driving License: Full UK driving license is required.
