- Verification & Documentation Review: o Thoroughly review and approve electrical installation certificates (EICs), minor electrical installation works certificates (MEIWCs), and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) generated by field electricians, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance. o Provide constructive feedback and guidance to electricians to improve the quality of their testing and documentation.
- Site Presence & Support: o Conduct significant site visits to active projects to provide on-site technical guidance, resolve complex electrical issues, troubleshoot, and support the project delivery teams. o Perform quality assurance checks and audits of ongoing electrical installation work to ensure adherence to design specifications and regulatory requirements. o Assist in the resolution of technical queries and challenges that arise during the installation and commissioning phases.
- Design Support & Review: o Support the electrical design process by reviewing designs for compliance, practicality, and efficiency, providing valuable input from an installation and verification perspective. o (Desirable, if holding C&G 2396) Contribute directly to or lead aspects of electrical design for smaller projects or modifications.
- Training & Development: o Contribute to the development and delivery of technical briefings and training sessions for electrical staff to enhance their competence and understanding of evolving regulations and best practices.
- Continuous Improvement: o Stay fully up-to-date with advancements in electrical technologies, testing methodologies, and regulatory changes within the electrical and water industries. o Identify opportunities for process improvements related to electrical installation, testing, and compliance.
- Stakeholder Liaison: o Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, suppliers, and accreditation bodies on technical and compliance matters. Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Essential: o Proven background as a fully qualified Electrician with extensive hands-on experience in industrial or commercial electrical installations, ideally within the water or similar process-driven industries. o Currently holds or immediately eligible to be the company's Qualifying Supervisor (QS) with a recognised electrical accreditation body (e.g., NICEIC). o City & Guilds 2391 (or the current 2391-52) Level 3 Award in Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations. o City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations) qualification. o Demonstrable in-depth technical knowledge and practical application of BS 7671 and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. o Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, with the ability to interpret complex electrical schematics and resolve technical problems. o Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, capable of providing clear guidance and effective training. o Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. o Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and ideally familiar with industrystandard electrical software. o Full UK Driving License.
- Desirable: o City & Guilds 2396-01 Level 4 Award in the Design and Verification of Electrical Installations. o Experience in the water industry, particularly with non-infrastructure assets. o Experience in a similar technical support, supervisory, or quality assurance role. o Familiarity with functional safety aspects (e.g., relevant parts of IEC 61508/61511) if applicable to water industry controls.
