Job Introduction
An opportunity is available for a Technician based at Milton Keynes preferably or Northampton.
The successful candidate will be accountable to the Team Manager for the construction, maintenance and repair of the distribution network up to 33kV. You will be required to take responsibility for safety, work planning, performance and the issuing of safety documents and other tasks appropriate to the technician role. The successful candidate will work as a Senior Authorised Person at voltages up to & including 33KV on both overhead & underground networks.
You are required to have grade A*-C/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 qualification in both subjects. In addition, you must hold a City & Guilds 2339 Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering.
Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
Main Responsibilities
Ideal Candidate
You must be able to work on your own initiative as part of a small team and be capable of making on the spot decisions as required. You will need good communication skills, a flexible attitude and be able to cope in pressured situations often working to tight deadlines. In addition, you will be expected to train as an SAP and be mobile throughout the area as you will be required to undertake standby duties, so must live within 30 minutes from the depot.
The role holder must hold a full UK drivers’ licence to apply and knowledge of wooden distribution power lines is desirable for this role.
If not already attained, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Level 3 City & Guilds 2339.
