What you’ll do
Ashfords is seeking an experienced Employment and HR Consultant to join our Employment and HR team in Bristol. You will be part of our HR Consultancy, supporting clients through an advice-line service where each matter is handled as an individual case.
In this role, you will provide high-quality HR and employee relations advice across a broad range of issues, including disciplinary and grievance matters, performance management, long-term sickness absence, and redundancy processes.
You will ensure clients feel supported, informed, and confident at every stage. This will involve delivering advice via telephone and email, drafting clear and practical documentation, and assisting with the review, update, and development of HR policies and procedures in line with current employment law. The service is advisory in nature, focusing on providing clear, sound guidance during client conversations. Outcomes are client-led, with advice delivered to support informed decision-making.
By building strong, trusted relationships, you will become a key point of contact for clients, helping them navigate complex HR challenges with practical, compliant solutions that align with their business objectives. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of the consultancy by sharing insights and supporting continuous improvement across processes and ways of working.
This is a part-time position (3.5 days per week), with core working days of Sunday (half day) and Monday, offering flexibility alongside the opportunity to work on varied and rewarding HR cases.
Who you are
You’re an experienced HR professional, ideally with a CIPD Level 5 qualification and at least 3 years’ experience in a similar HR or employee relations role. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and enjoy tackling complex employee relations matters, providing clear, practical advice that clients can trust.
Highly organised, detail-focused, and proactive, you work equally well independently and as part of a team. You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, handle sensitive information with discretion, and are committed to delivering high-quality HR solutions that align with both employment law and client priorities. You’re confident in managing cases from start to finish, supporting clients through processes and investigations, and helping them update policies and procedures.
