The main purpose of the job is to ensure the provision of the highest standard of direct patient care for patients undergoing a range of endoscopic procedures. The post holder will be required to assist the endoscopist and support patients, with emphasis on patient safety and dignity during all aspects of endoscopy procedures.
The post holder will ensure efficient communication and education in health promotion which reflects the quality standards and mission of the University Health Board. In the absence of the unit sister/deputy sister the post holder may have responsibility for the operational management of the Endoscopy Unit.
On completion of competencies the post holder may be required to contribute to the out of hours on call rota to support consultant staff managing emergency care of patients deemed by the on-call consultant to require intervention.
A part time permanent band 5 post has arisen in the Endoscopy Department at the Princess of Wales Hospital. The endoscopy department is working towards JAG accreditation and requires the post holder to provide a high standard of nursing care within the department, assisting with Endoscopic procedures and liaising with other departments and wards to maintain smooth running of lists. The responsibilities of the post holder also include carrying out all relevant forms of nursing care, demonstrating a positive attitude to providing a quality service.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This means Speaking & Listening at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2). We don’t need fluency. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. For more information, see the ‘Croeso Candidate’ booklet below.
