The role
SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for an Analyst to join our Strategic System Planning Function.
Your work delivered within this role will contribute to strategies, investments and external positioning, in areas including north of Scotland future energy scenarios and energy trends, long term network development and energy system modelling.
You will
- Work with a broad cross-section of the Network directorate, wider Networks business and corporate support services including development, engineering, customer experience, finance, regulation and corporate affairs, with stakeholders at all levels
- Support the development of computational models; producing and developing complex energy system models used to inform senior stakeholders
- Develop computational appraisals of the GB power market based on internal and external stakeholders and internal performance information (both qualitative and quantitative), including competitor analysis, industry benchmarking, and strategic reports
- Improve the quality, quantity, regularity and consistency of research and insight that is collected and generated and establishing effective and innovative ways to present and communicate data analysis for colleagues and stakeholders
- Scan and review market activities; spotting emerging trends and themes that may affect the transmission network development in the medium and long term
You have
- Experience within a computational modelling role (power systems desirable, but not essential). PLEXOS experience would be desirable.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Supply Chain Manager to join our Procurement and Commercial function, to develop and manage supply chain relationships and performance as part of the Supply Chain Performance centre of excellence team. This key role will be vital to the successful development and delivery of our projects across our Networks Transmission business.
Reporting to the Senior Procurement and Commercial Manager, the Supply Chain Manager will collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders to support the growth and performance of the supply chain.
You will
- Build relationships with key supply chain companies and support implementation of engagement strategy to support the successful delivery of projects.
- Co-ordinate engagement and interaction with the supply chain to enable clear communication on key areas.
- Work with stakeholders to establish sources of data, both new and existing, to provide measurable and comparable feedback regarding supply chain performance.
- Support the development and implementation of a performance analytics platform to display up to date data which can be easily extracted for review to inform different levels of engagement and help drive better performance.
- Have excellent organisation and planning skills with the ability to work to deadlines and still deliver quality output whilst dealing with changing priorities and managing your own time effectively.
You have
- Quantity Surveying degree / CIPS or equivalent is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build good, collaborative and productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across varying disciplines.
- Technical knowledge of construction and infrastructure projects is desirable, but not essential.
- Previous experience as an Analyst would be advantageous, however experience as a skilled problem solver is crucial, you must be able to identify any issues and work to solve them quickly, effectively, and accurately.
- The ability to ensure accurate and complete data and information exchange among various stakeholders across multiple platforms and reporting tools including Excel, SharePoint, Power BI as well as any future cost reports and / or digital systems. Previous experience of successfully implementing new digital solutions.
We are looking for a highly numerate candidate with a good technical knowledge who can analyse and interpret numerical and asset volume data with well-developed cost management skills, ideally with experience in a commercial or costing background. Excellent IT skills are essential including knowledge of all MS Office applications.
