We are currently looking for talented and motivated Engineer to join our dynamic Development Infrastructure team in Cambridge. This full-time role offers flexible working conditions, with a minimum of three days in the office and the option for adjusted start and finish times.

As part of our team, you will create innovative solutions to some of today’s most challenging global issues. Your work will contribute to sustainable designs that address the needs of society both now and for the future, providing integrated multi-disciplinary consultancy services to our clients.

You Will Be Involved In a Diverse Range Of Private Sector Projects, Including Residential, Energy, And Commercial Developments. From Project Inception To Detailed Design And Construction, Your Contributions Will Span

  • Civil engineering
  • Section 104, 38 & 278 agreements
  • Highways and earthworks design
  • Drainage, flood risk management, and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Site appraisal
  • Construction Design and Management (CDM)

What does the role involve?

Working as part of the Development Infrastructure team on a variety of projects in the residential, energy and commercial sectors, you will act as an Engineer to undertake and check the delivery of design solutions and coordinate with other disciplines.

You will be involved in projects from conception to completion including; supporting the Project Manager to clarify the project brief, agree deliverables, key milestones, project methodology; undertaking elements of the detailed design and the checking of outputs as directed: e.g. calculations, models, drawings, sketches, reports etc. to achieve the optimum solution for the project; assessing, documenting and communicating design changes to the Project Manager.

You will take ownership and responsibility for the quality of work you produce, ensuring that work is delivered in line with the agreed timescales and ensuring you understand and comply with our Company Integrated Management system and all relevant health and safety legislation.

You will continue to learn from experienced people who share a passion for working together with our clients to deliver technical excellence. As you develop, you will be given opportunity to work more independently and take on greater responsibility within projects.

To Be Successful In This Role You’ll Have

  • A collaborative attitude and a desire to work in a team
  • An academic qualification, such as a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Ideally this will be accredited by the Engineering Council so we can help you work toward a professional qualification with your chosen institution.
  • Relevant post-qualification engineering design experience and project delivery in residential, energy and commercial sectors. This could be either pre-planning services, or post-planning detailed design experience. Understanding of S104, S38 and S278 agreements.
  • To be considered for the Engineer post, a minimum of three years’ post graduate experience would be expected.
  • Experience in civil engineering infrastructure modelling software - ideally Civil 3D, or other comparable software (e.g. PDS, OpenRoads, etc.). Some AutoCAD experience is essential.
  • Experience of drainage design tools, such as InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage or Flow.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 tools.
  • Experience in resource or commercial management on projects.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills and an interest in finding quick, innovative and practical solutions.
  • The ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet project timescales.
  • Availability to travel to sites and offices within the UK when required, a driving license is helpful but not essential .
