Engineering Apprentice and Development Manager where you'll drive the strategic development and delivery of high-impact apprenticeship programmes across all engineering functions.

Responsibilities
- Oversee apprenticeship schemes throughout their full lifecycle ensuring quality, consistency, and compliance across all training providers.
- Work with colleges/training providers to define the apprenticeship requirements, monitor apprentice progress and ensure timely achievement of standards.
- Align engineering apprenticeships with global business strategy, workforce capabilities and succession planning.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation across all apprenticeship activities.
- Collaborate with Engineering Teams to support apprentices in achieving required competencies and develop people development plans.
- Maintain centralised records and liaise with external bodies to uphold apprenticeship standards.
- Benchmark best practices and evolve Engineering Development Programmes to meet future needs.
- Act as the Learning & Development and Central Talent Lead for Engineering Apprenticeships.
Location/travel
UK based with frequent travel throughout the UK /NI (2-3 times per week) for college visits and providing on site support to the apprentice teams.
Due to the travel requirement, Royal Mail will make a monthly £375 contribution to the rental payments for your chosen electric 'job need car'.
About You
You need to be a qualified multi skilled engineer (ONC or equivalent) and demonstrate the following skills and experiences on your CV:
- Extensive knowledge of automation systems, maintenance technologies, and operational requirements.
- Developing and delivering training within a technical maintenance environment.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, including PUWER, COSHH, PPE, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work.
- In-depth knowledge of NVQ structures, standards, and assessment frameworks.
- Assessor trained to D32/D33 or A1/A2 standards.
- Expert knowledge of Apprenticeship Trailblazers and Levy funding mechanisms.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and IT systems.
- Experience in leading and developing teams through significant technological change and investment, within a unionised environment.
- Ability to manage and mentor young people through structured education programmes.
- Effective communicator with strong people development, training, and mentoring capabilities.
- Experienced in managing technical teams and delivering strategic development programmes across engineering functions.
