About the role and the Team
We are looking for technically proficient Engineering Managers with deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot or Python and AWS, to lead the development and operation of critical backend systems. This role combines strong technical skills, product ownership, and team management to deliver robust, scalable solutions that meet business needs.
What will you be doing?
- System Ownership: Define and maintain the technical roadmap for backend services, with a focus on AI integration and AWS ecosystems.
- Feature Refinement: Collaborate with stakeholders to transform user stories into actionable features that align with business priorities.
- AI Innovation: Design and implement solutions using AWS Bedrock or other generative AI frameworks to enhance system capabilities.
- Technical Leadership: Peer review code, enforce development standards, and ensure systems are secure, scalable, and maintainable.
- Team Management: Mentor and lead backend developers, fostering growth and collaboration.
- EDA Expertise: Design and implement event-driven workflows using Kafka for real-time, distributed systems.
- Collaboration: Partner with frontend and DevOps teams to ensure end-to-end solution delivery.
What we are looking for:
- Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with AWS services, including AWS Connect and Bedrock or Extensive experience with Java and Spring Boot, including microservices architecture.
- Experience within a similar role
- Telecoms experience and/or experience in a start-up or PE environment
- Expertise in event-driven architecture and Kafka.
- Ability to think strategically, provide practical solutions, and make sound decisions in complex and evolving product and customer journey environments.
- Strong leadership abilities, including the capacity to build and motivate teams, manage change, hold people to account and drive a culture of customer and product focus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
