Mint Selection are partnered with a leading renewables IPP that are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager, responsible for the technical management and day-to-day project execution management of a team of project engineers.
Reporting to the Engineering Director and assigned Project Manager, this appointment will be responsible for managing the delivery of engineering across a portfolio of battery storage and gas peaking projects from FID through detailed design, construction and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design Coordination:
- Design co-ordinator across multiple projects – ensure designers submit designs on time
- Interface management – Ensure design interfaces are captured and managed
- Drafting of employer’s requirements / specifications for projects
- Ensure design deliverables from designers allow the project to be delivered on budget
- Identify, evaluate and implement value engineering and cost reduction opportunities during design and construction
- Co-ordinate design decisions across projects to ensure consistency and transfer of knowledge between projects
2. Project Engineering:
- Act as senior project engineer on complex projects
- Coordinate all design inputs and ensure contractor deliverables are accurate and timely
- Lead design meetings and maintain design registers
- Ensure correct and latest revisions are used in construction and resolve technical queries
- Support construction with regular site visits and design issue resolution
3. Provide input to the Pre-FID design and budgeting process.
4. Team Management:
- Lead and manage a team of project engineers
- Oversee technical output across projects of varying complexity
Experience & Qualifications:
- 10+ years within a renewables or energy generation environment
- MEng in a relevant engineering field
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent
Additional Skills (Desirable):
- Knowledge of energy plant construction
- Mechanical or HV electrical design expertise
- AutoCAD proficiency (2D/3D)
- Familiarity with CDM regulations and Principal Designer requirements
