About the role:


We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to lead the strategic design of our application portfolio strategy. This role requires a deep understanding of application architecture principles, software development methodologies, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture best practices. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader, driving innovation and ensuring our application landscape is optimised for agility, scalability, security, and business value, while aligning with the overall enterprise architecture strategy. Big 4 consulting experience will be valuable in understanding how Deloitte operates.


Responsibilities

  • Develop a long-term vision and comprehensive roadmap for the firm's application portfolio, aligning it with the overall business strategy and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the firm's overall digital transformation strategy, leveraging application modernisation and innovation to enhance business operations and achieve strategic goals.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management and business leaders. Influence and shape technology decisions related to application development and deployment across the firm.
  • Lead the design of complex and innovative application solutions, integrating various applications with other enterprise systems and cloud platforms.
  • Provide strategic guidance and leadership to the application architecture team and related stakeholders, mentoring and developing junior architects and engineers.
  • Lead the evaluation and selection of cutting-edge application technologies and platforms,
  • Stakeholder Management - Collaborate with IT, Business Units, Development teams, Security and vendors
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of application enterprise architecture
  • Proactively identify emerging trends and technologies in application development and deployment, including microservices, serverless computing, AI/ML, DevOps, and cybersecurity threats. Translate these into actionable strategies for the firm.
  • Manage and mitigate risks associated with application development and deployment, ensuring compliance with security standards, data privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR), and overall enterprise risk management frameworks.
  • Conduct regular reviews with application owners to identifying areas for improvement, optimisation, cost reduction and enhanced business value.
  • Provide expert-level support and troubleshooting for complex application architecture-related issues.


Essential Skills:

  • Have IT architecture experience at Senior Manager / Technical Director level within a large enterprise environment.
  • Experience of Business Architecture and Capability Modelling on key enterprise business platforms including ERP Finance, CRM, Business Intelligence, Case Management and Workflow.
  • Leadership - Experienced at successfully leading and delivering complex application architecture and integration architectures.
  • Deep understanding of application architecture patterns, software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall), API design, integration technologies (ESB, message queues) and cloud-native application development.
  • Communication: can present and articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: proven ability to think strategically and creatively to solve complex challenges.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices including secure coding principles, vulnerability management and application security testing.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.


Preferred

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g. TOGAF) are highly desirable.
  • Prior experience working with one of the Big 4 firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG)


Deliverables: responsibilities but not limited to;

  1. Design, development and testing of APEX solutions
  2. Support of existing solutions
  3. Perform review of wider solution estate that integrates with APEX solutions

As a means of managing tax, commercial and reputational risks, Deloitte prohibits the use of Associates through Personal Service Companies (‘PSCs’). All Associates must contract under PAYE arrangements through a Deloitte approved ‘Employment Company’ (aka ‘umbrella company.’)
