Salary: £76,000 - £96,000 + Car Allowance + bonus

The Enterprise IT Architect will play a central role in steering this transformation, ensuring a smooth and strategic separation from existing service providers while enabling the business to deliver on its long-term vision.


Role Summary


As Enterprise IT Architect, you will:


  • Lead the creation of the “As-Is” Enterprise IT architecture and identify service gaps in current systems.
  • Develop the target state architecture and a delivery strategy, focusing on separation from current service providers.
  • Produce strategic roadmaps, identifying technical risks, hotspots and mitigation plans.
  • Gather business requirements and translate them into a high-level enterprise IT design and a clear migration plan.
  • Contribute to RFP documentation for any new IT services required post-separation.
  • Align enterprise IT architecture with broader technology strategies, ensuring consistency across infrastructure, application, security and data domains.


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide technical leadership, working closely with engineering teams, procurement, business functions and senior stakeholders.
  • Define and implement architectural principles and guardrails to support efficient, scalable delivery.
  • Maintain alignment between designs, enterprise standards and the organisation’s operating model.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that meet business objectives while managing complexity and risk.


Essential Skills & Experience


  • Proven track record as an Enterprise IT Architect, with hands-on leadership experience in development practices.
  • Ability to operate effectively in complex environments, including outsourced and hub-and-spoke models.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of engaging with C-level executives through to technical teams.
  • Deep technical knowledge across infrastructure and application layers, including cloud (IaaS, SaaS) and managed services.
  • Skilled in translating competing project demands into a coherent enterprise strategy.
  • Familiarity with SAFe (preferred) or TOGAF frameworks.


Desirable Skills & Certifications


  • BCS Practitioner in Enterprise and Solution Architecture
  • SAFe 6.0 certification (or earlier versions)
  • ITIL V4 or V3 certification
  • Azure or AWS certifications
  • Experience in utilities or telecoms
  • Knowledge of DevOps, sprint planning and backlog management
  • Understanding of enterprise architecture methodologies and best practice
