Job Title: Enterprise Architect – Aero Technical Publication Platform

📍 Location: Derby, UK

🕒 Experience: 18–20 years

Role Overview

We are seeking a visionary Enterprise Architect on a contract basis to lead the design and implementation of the future-state architecture for our Aero Technical Publication platform. The role will focus on transforming legacy systems into a modern, scalable, standards-compliant digital ecosystem to support aerospace documentation workflows.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in enterprise architecture, aerospace documentation standards, and digital transformation, with proven leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Architecture Development

Define and drive the future-state architecture (Conceptual, Logical, Physical).
Develop architecture blueprints aligned with aerospace standards (S1000D, S2000M, ATA iSpec 2200).
Lead migration from legacy systems to modern interoperable platforms.
Ensure platform scalability and extensibility across divisions and customers.

Platform Modernization & Integration

Architect solutions for Content Authoring, CSDB, Publishing, and IETP/IETM delivery (XML, DITA, CMS).
Integrate with engineering systems (PLM, ERP) and digital twin environments.

Governance & Compliance

Define architecture governance frameworks, data models, metadata standards, content lifecycle policies.
Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, aerospace regulations, and quality standards.

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

Collaborate with engineering, IT, product, and documentation teams.
Present architectural vision to senior leadership.
Mentor solution architects and technical leads.

Qualifications

Basic:

Bachelor’s in Computer Science/IT/Mathematics with 20+ years of experience, OR
Master’s degree with 18+ years of experience.

Must-Have Skills:

Strong knowledge of aerospace documentation standards (S1000D, S2000M, ATA iSpec 2200, ASD-STE100).
Experience with CMS platforms (Alfresco, Oracle CMS, RSuite, OpenText Documentum).
Expertise in XML/DITA, authoring tools (Fonto Web, RMS, RapidAuthor, Arbotext, Oxygen), and publishing tools.
Familiarity with publishing engines (XML Professional Publisher, Framemaker, Oxygen).
Workflow tools knowledge (BREX, Schematron, Activiti).
Experience in data ingestion, transformation, monitoring, analytics.
Strong communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills:

Expertise in TOGAF, ArchiMate, EA frameworks.
Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), microservices, API-led integration.
Familiarity with IETP/IETM tools (Nivomax, RWS LiveContent, CORENA IETP, Pinpoint)
