About The Role
This role will develop and embed the enterprise-wide risk management framework, ensuring that key risks are identified, assessed, monitored, and reported across the business. The ideal candidate will have experience in promoting a strong risk culture across the organisation, helping to turn risk into a strategic advantage. This is a senior role within our Operational Risk function, reporting into the Chief Risk Officer.
Responsibilities
- ERM Framework & Risk Appetite
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and maintain the Risk Appetite Statement in alignment with business strategy.
- Risk System Oversight & Data Management
- Oversee the Risk Management system to ensure risks are identified, monitored, and documented; facilitate effective stakeholder engagement through regular reviews and ensure data is actionable and up to date.
- Governance & Committee Engagement
- Coordinate Risk & Compliance Committee meetings, develop insightful risk packs for executive and board-level reporting, and guide discussions to ensure meaningful risk oversight and challenge.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Culture
- Actively contribute to general management decision-making, support business teams with risk guidance, and promote a strong risk culture through training, awareness, and engagement.
- Control Monitoring & Assurance Alignment
- Ensure risk controls are tested and effective, align with 2nd and 3rd line assurance functions, and escalate issues or gaps appropriately while supporting remediation efforts.
- External Engagement & Industry Awareness
- Lead responses to auditors and regulators, stay informed on industry risk developments, and represent the CRO when required in internal and external meetings.
What You'll Need To Succeed
- A minimum of 5 years working in within risk management in a regulated financial services/consumer credit business.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise risk frameworks, governance, and regulatory requirements.
- Experienced in using and developing Risk Management systems.
- A minimum of 3 years people management experience, whilst the role has no direct reports these skills will be critical for influencing and directing on risk management actions.
- Practical experience of cross function collaboration and embedding/developing a risk culture across the business.
- Comfortable working with data and able to use data to identify issues or opportunities.
- Collaborative, and proactive with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
