About The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an
Environment & Sustainability Advisor to join our team on the Argyll Substations Development Projects. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in shaping how we deliver sustainable, environmentally responsible projects. From ensuring compliance with environmental legislation to supporting ecological enhancements, you’ll be advising operational teams, engaging with regulators, clients and local communities, and driving a culture of continual improvement.
What you'll be doing
- Provide expert advice and support to operational teams on all aspects of environmental management and compliance.
- Develop and maintain project-specific environmental and sustainability plans.
- Build strong relationships with regulators, clients, subcontractors, and local stakeholders.
- Support ecological and archaeological protection measures, pollution control, and sustainable site practices.
- Deliver training, toolbox talks and on-site coaching to enhance environmental awareness.
- Investigate environmental incidents, report findings, and support the implementation of preventative measures.
- Contribute to internal and external reporting, audits and assurance activities.
- Mentor and support junior colleagues, including graduates and placements.
Who we're looking for
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related discipline.
- Solid knowledge of environmental legislation, sustainability, ecology and archaeology mitigation.
- IEMA Membership.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Full UK driver’s licence and flexibility to travel.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience working within utilities, construction, or engineering environments.
