What you'll be doing
- Support the ongoing review of environmental BMS documents.
- Assist with the legal review process to ensure new legislation is identified, its impact to the business established and where applicable new/updated BMS documentation is put in place.
- Support working groups on environmental sustainability subject areas in order to enhance the Business Management System in line with business requirements.
- Analyse a variety of data sources to provide environmental trends forming the basis of the annual environmental management review including environmental incidents, enforcement actions, good practice / close-calls, training, audit findings and inspections.
- Support the collation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Packaging data and interface with Balfour Beatty’s packaging compliance scheme operator. Including reviewing imports / exports for all businesses within scope of the EPR regulations and determining their recycled packaging waste.
- Lead on the production of the UK monthly environmental incident report.
- Represent Balfour Beatty at industry groups as required e.g. CECA, CIWM CD&E TAG
- Assist in the update of ESA (Environmental Site Awareness) training content
- Provide ad-hoc advice and support to operational team on a range of environmental sustainability matters.
Who we're looking for
- Practitioner member of IEMA (PIEMA) or equivalent (recommended but not mandatory)
- Knowledge of ISO14001
- Practical experience and knowledge of environmental legislation
- Good interpersonal skills
