Job Title: SHEQ Advisor – Highways Maintenance (Contract)

Location: Yorkshire (site-based)

Contract: Initial 3 months (likely to extend)

Start: Immediate / ASAP

Rate: Competitive day rate

Role Overview

We require an experienced SHEQ Advisor to support highways maintenance works on high-speed road networks across Yorkshire. This is a hands-on, site-based role, working directly with operational teams in live traffic environments.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver regular SHEQ / OSH site inspections
Maintain a visible, practical safety presence on site
Engage and influence operatives and supervisors on safe systems of work
Review and advise on RAMS and task briefings
Support incident and near-miss investigations and action close-out
Provide pragmatic, solutions-led safety advice
Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, company procedures, and client standards
Produce clear site reports and documentation

Required Experience

Proven experience as a SHEQ / Health & Safety Advisor within highways or civils
Strong knowledge of highways maintenance and live, high-speed road environments
Confident operating independently on site
Strong communication and influencing skills
Practical, delivery-focused approach

Qualifications

NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
IOSH membership (TechIOSH / GradIOSH preferred)
CSCS card
Full UK driving licence
