Purpose of Role
We are looking for a skilled and driven
Epicor Technical Specialist to support and enhance Xaars ERP and MES systems. This role is central to delivering new functionality and driving system improvements using Epicor development and customisation tools. You will work closely with stakeholders and the wider IT Business Systems team to ensure solutions align with evolving business requirements.
Scale
- Supports the configuration, development, and support of Xaars Epicor ERP and MES systems across multiple business functions.
- Provides system support to internal users across different UK and international business entities.
- Contributes to cross-functional projects affecting operations at multiple sites.
- Works within the IT Business Systems team to ensure ERP/MES systems support manufacturing, finance, and other critical business functions.
- No direct budget responsibility, but influences project priorities and resource planning through sprint management.
Freedom to make decisions
- Operates with autonomy in managing and prioritising the Epicor development backlog in Azure DevOps.
- Makes independent decisions on day-to-day technical tasks, issue resolution, and Epicor configuration within defined guidelines.
- Recommends and develops ideas for system enhancements and process improvements aligned with strategic goals.
- Consults with the IT Business Systems Team Leader or project leads for significant architectural changes, resource planning, or escalated technical issues.
- Contributes to decisions that impact system development across ERP and MES areas.
Complexity
- Supports a multi-module ERP environment (including Finance and Manufacturing), requiring broad technical and functional knowledge.
- Works across different business units with varying requirements and workflows.
- Balances operational system support with the planning and execution of project-based development.
- Must adapt to frequently changing business priorities and deadlines within an Agile delivery model.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders and third-party partners, aligning technical changes with business needs.
Planning horizon
- Most activities are structured around weekly Scrum meetings and bi-weekly Agile sprints, supporting near-term system improvements and fixes.
- Participates in and contributes to medium-term system development roadmaps (312 months).
- Supports planning and execution of upgrades (e.g. Epicor E10 to Kinetic) and contributes to longer-term IT transformation objectives.
Key Accountabilities
- Deliver ERP and MES system enhancements aligned with the IT transformation programme to support business growth and efficiency.
- Manage and maintain user stories and sprint tasks/bugs in Azure DevOps to ensure transparency and team alignment with sprint goals.
- Investigate and resolve technical incidents to minimise system downtime and maintain operational continuity.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyse and refine system requirements to ensure solutions meet business objectives.
- Design and develop BAQs, BPMs, Dashboards, and Reports (SSRS) to support decision-making and operational reporting.
- Support configuration of Epicor ERP and MES modules to maintain compliance and system usability.
- Document development activity and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support future maintenance and knowledge sharing.
- Engage with Epicor and third-party partners to deliver effective and aligned technical solutions.
Knowledge, Experience And Qualifications
- Strong experience in Epicor ERP and MES system administration.
- Proficient in Epicor tools: BAQs, BPMs, Dashboards, SSRS Reports, and DMT.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps for backlog, task, and sprint management.
- Experience configuring and supporting ERP modules, particularly Finance, and MES functionality.
- Solid understanding of business processes in manufacturing, operations, and finance.
- Demonstrated experience in project environments, including ERP upgrades and new functionality delivery.
- Desirable: Experience in multi-company Epicor environments or consultancy background.
