The Property Team and Property Group sit within the University's Estates Division and are responsible for the professional management of properties that comprise the University's property and buildings Estate. We have an opportunity for an Estates Surveyor to join the Property Team on a short-term contract basis.
The Estates Surveyor is responsible for undertaking the professional management of properties in both the operational and non-operational portfolios under the supervision of the Senior Estates Surveyor. The individual will derive the maximum benefit for the University from the various property-related assets held, whilst considering operational requirements. The individual will collaborate with colleagues in the Estate Operations section on matters of maintenance and will provide professional advice on all aspects of property management, acquisition, and disposal. In addition, the person will maintain an up-to-date appreciation of the state of the local and national commercial property markets and changes in legislation by networking with local agents and property professionals.
The ideal candidate will be a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with post-qualification experience. They will have practical property experience gained in either public and/or commercial sectors, dealing with the full range of property-related work, including the acquisition, management, letting, and disposal of commercial property. They will need to have the ability and the aptitude to gain an understanding of the workings of the University and Colleges and the governance and decision-making processes that apply to the work involved. They will need to hold a valid driving licence to undertake site visits, although the University does provide pool bikes and cars that can be used within the City of Cambridge and the local area.
Please be aware that a Full UK Driving Licence is essential for this role (a full EU Driving Licence is acceptable on appointment, but the successful applicant must transfer to a UK Licence prior to confirming a start date).
Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 18 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is earlier.
